Year2026

Users can choose from more than 40 dance moves across four levels, build their own choreography and then dance along with a virtual dance teacher. They can do this individually or in small groups.

During the Hockey World Cup 2026, 28 participants tested the Dance Creator: 18 adults and 10 children and young people aged 6–17.

The response was positive. Among children and young people, 90% enjoyed dancing and 100% enjoyed moving to music. 80% found it easy to join in and 90% enjoyed dancing together.

Adults also found the Dance Creator easy to use: 89% said so. 83% enjoyed moving to music and 78% felt the activity made moving more fun. The social side stood out too: 89% said the Dance Creator encouraged them to move together and that dancing together made the experience more fun.

One of the most popular features was being able to create your own dance. Having control over the choreography gave participants room to be creative and make the experience their own.

The test also showed that making people want to move more regularly is a bigger challenge. Only 33% of adults felt motivated to exercise more often, while 61% were neutral.

So where would people use the Dance Creator? In a quick sticker vote, home was the most popular option (47%), followed by school (23%), sports clubs (17%) and after-school care (13%).

The next step is to expand the range of dance moves, styles and music and make the transitions between moves even easier to follow. The visual design will also be developed further, while keeping the social aspect at the heart of the experience.

Further testing will explore what happens when people use the Dance Creator more often and whether it can contribute to lasting motivation to move. The team will also explore how the Dance Creator could be used in movement education, with home, school, after-school care and sports clubs as potential settings.
