Tapp offers an innovative solution for temperature measurements during transport. They do this by using paper data loggers as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional plastic loggers. These paper loggers help to reduce the amount of electronic waste (e-waste), which is especially beneficial for communities near e-waste dumps.

During Into the Great Wide Open, the user experience of the paper data loggers was tested. The focus was on the physical design and the software (app), with specific attention to ease of use (UX) and the clarity of the generated reports.

The tests showed that the reports were not yet clear enough for users, which confirmed that the web app needs further improvements. With feedback from 80 respondents, valuable insights were gathered that will help Tapp further optimize the product. Based on this, a new report design was developed and will be tested again soon.

Tapp is working on the development of an interactive “help” page to support users in using the NFC functions, especially on devices where NFC is not enabled by default. With these improvements, Tapp aims to facilitate the transition to sustainable temperature registration and further reduce the impact of e-waste.
