Mesjokke tested the taste of its honest chocolates in the form of hot chocolate. These are made from special varieties of cocoa, the taste of which depends on the country of origin, the type of soil and the fermentation method. Mesjokke pays two to three times as much for this cocoa and ensures that the conditions under which it is produced are good.

This weekend, owner Per Vonk surveyed what recipe is preferred by festival-goers and how much people are willing to pay for a cup of their sustainable & social chocolate milk. “The responses varied. There are people who think the concept is really cool and people who really have to get used to the taste. Those find it bitter or too sweet, depending on what they already know. Most people want to pay €4.40 for a cup, which is also what most coffee shops charge. It’s nice to get that confirmation.”
