We all know that we will have to stop using gas eventually. Yet we still go camping with our gas stoves, because there is no sustainable and safe alternative available yet. IN-DUC has come up with a solution for this: an outdoor cooking appliance with induction technology, for campers. With the wireless design you can cook anywhere without the hassle of gas bottles or plugs.

During the Zwarte Cross, they tested whether the wireless induction system is suitable for festival campsites. Visitors gave their opinion via a woolmapping and interviews, which provided interesting insights. The conversations showed that about half of the visitors feel unsafe when using open fires on campsites. They were therefore very interested in the wireless induction hob and would consider buying one.

Opinions on the use of cooking facilities on the festival campsite were divided; some visitors prefer to cook at their tent, while others find it more convenient to eat on the festival grounds. Visitors who want to cook at the festival campsite are often prepared to pay extra for cooking facilities, especially when it comes to BBQs or electric cooking stations.

During Into The Great Wide Open, IN-DUC tested its wireless induction hob again. “The tests went much better than expected,” says Joep from IN-DUC. “We received feedback from dozens of people about the idea itself and whether they would want to use or rent it at a (festival) campsite. We also made many valuable contacts, such as someone from nu.nl who wants to write about us and people who are converting their own camper vans. Based on the results, I expect that it should be possible to set up a paid pilot.”
