This year, we’re welcoming Kwaku Festival to Amsterdam-Zuidoost as a new test location for innovations, and we’re very enthusiastic about it! What started as a small football tournament has grown into a four-week festival where music, dance, art, and culinary experiences come together. With roots in the Surinamese community and influences from the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond, the festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors annually and celebrates the power of diversity.
Kwaku Festival 2025
This summer, we’ll be testing two Innofest programs here. From Friday, July 25th to Sunday, July 27th, young innovators from the HvA Venture Center will be testing solutions for societal challenges, developed in collaboration with MDT, Innofest, and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. From Thursday, July 31st to Saturday, August 2nd, innovators from the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area will test their prototypes at the festival. Their innovations, focused on sustainable mobility, circular economy, energy, (digital) security, food, and inclusivity, will receive direct feedback and take an important step towards further development.
