Test your innovation at DGTL & Oerol

DGTL, the Revolution FoundationOerol and Innofest are helping 7 companies, social projects and students from all over the Netherlands to set up a test case at DGTL and Oerol. To do so, we are looking for innovations, initiatives and art projects that make the festival and creative sector more sustainable, inclusive and diverse.

Click here for Dutch.

We are looking for solutions that can be tested more widely than just within the festival’s gates. For example, also consider the surrounding areas of the festival, the route people take or the online environment of the festival.

Please note: applications are closed.

All those selected will receive a testing budget that will partially cover production costs. There is also a development budget available. To apply for this, please submit a concise project plan (max. one A4) including budget, to Elisha (oc.ts1716025919efonn1716025919i@ahs1716025919ile1716025919). We aim to divide the budget of 16,000 Euros over 4 innovations, making the maximum budget per innovation 4,000 Euros, including VAT.

The Programme

In a series of three workshops (Innolessen), your test case will take shape step by step. There are two test moments for all participants: one at DGTL (29-31 March 2024) and one during Oerol (7-16 June 2024). Before and during the final practical test at DGTL and Oerol, participants will receive personal guidance from a test expert to achieve optimal test results.

An evaluation workshop will follow after the test case. Here the participants look back on the test case and look ahead to possible future steps. In this way, we ensure that the data retrieved is actually used to improve the prototype.

These test opportunities are made possible by the Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie and CLICKNL.

Why should you participate?

> You will test your prototype according to a proven method;
> You will have access to unique test locations (DGTL & Oerol);
> You will collect valuable data to further develop your prototype;
> You will receive a test budget, with which you can partially reimburse your costs incurred;
> You create visibility for your innovation, initiative or art project.

These entrepreneurs went before you:

In 2019, we were at DGTL for the first time with three startups: Mobiele Stroom, the cup holder by Calix and the circular toilet unit by SEMiLLA Sanitation. A year later we were at Paradigm Biergarten in Groningen with Fem Alert, they built a platform to report cross-border behavior. Startups VR and Kauwboys are two of the social and sustainable entrepreneurs we tested with at Welcome to The Village in 2022. Check out the video below to see these entrepreneurs in action and to get an idea of what testing innovations looks like in practice.

"Innofest's work is an important addition to our accelerators. It forces entrepreneurs to name their assumptions and test them in the real world."
Manon Klein, Director Impact Hub Amsterdam

About Innofest

Innofest offers startups and scaleups the opportunity to test prototypes at festivals and living labs, kickstarting their success. By validating key assumptions at an early stage, startups increase their innovation’s chances of success and pick up crucial evidence for investors or launching customers.

Since its founding in 2016, Innofest has guided more than 230 test cases at festivals and living labs. We do this using our own validated testing methodology. Download the whitepaper in which we have defined our methodology here.
