French startup Toopi converts human urine into raw material for agriculture. By harnessing the nutrient-rich potential of urine, Toopi creates biostimulants that enrich soil fertility and reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers. Mysteryland provided the perfect setting for testing their collection tanks, which were placed near the toilets at the campsite.

François Gerard, project manager of Toopi Belgium said, “We aimed to collect 10,000 liters of urine and within 2.5 days we successfully reached this milestone. The urine collected will now be fermented and converted into biostimulants. This will benefit the environment by allowing 400 acres of crops to be fed ecologically, reducing farmers’ reliance on chemical fertilizers.”

Shortly after the test at Mysteryland, Toopi raised 16 million in investment. The new capital will be used to expand the company’s urine collection network, launch 3 new urine-based products in the EU and set up two new sites, in France and Belgium, to reach a processing capacity of more than 2 million liters of urine per year by 2027.
