In the fight against the 150 million cans that end up on the streets every year, TechTics has developed the TinTrooper. “It is a unique solution using human-robot interaction, intended to encourage consumers to recycle cans more effectively and to raise awareness about the importance of tackling litter,” says Edwin, founder of TechTics.

This mobile robot approaches people and collects cans. Edwin: “The first prototype can hold a hundred cans. The aim is to make a version that can hold up to five hundred cans. After emptying the robot, the bag with cans can be thrown away in the usual way.”

After a successful test at DGTL with the TinTrooper, they introduced a new robot during the FBK Games. This so-called LitterBot is programmed with AI, to efficiently map and collect litter. The robot drove around the stadium to collect data. The robot had to continuously adapt to the dynamic environment and the moving audience.

A lot of useful data was collected during the event, which Techtics can use to optimize the LitterBot. In addition, visitors responded very positive towards the robot. Techtics will start working with the collected data and implement improvements so that the LitterBot can be optimised.
