Maarten and Ramon, the founders of Leeuwarden-based NitroTea, both have the ambition to market a healthy soft drink. Their iced tea contains no sugar and few added flavorings. At Eurosonic Noorderslag, they examined two alternatives. Ramon: “That gives us an idea of which way we have to go. One recipe goes more in the direction of soft drinks, the other in the direction of alcohol.”

During ESNS, they asked testers their opinion on the taste of the drink and whether they would buy it in the store, among other things. The responses ranged from “a very nice thirst quencher” to “I think it’s a little too watery.” In the coming months, Maarten and Ramon will continue to explore the market and look for a producer for their soft drink.
