As money becomes increasingly digital, many children miss out on learning about saving and spending through play. Coinkids has developed an app that helps children, together with their parents, learn to manage money, set goals, and make smart choices.

At the Kwaku Festival, the team tested the app live with families. QR codes and roaming “superheroes” encouraged downloads and allowed immediate use. Children quickly understood the app and enjoyed using it, while parents highlighted its educational value. At the same time, areas for improvement emerged, such as an overly complex onboarding process and a desire for simpler joint use by parent and child.

With these insights, Coinkids is working to improve the user experience, refine its target audience (starting from age 4), and explore business models and collaborations with financial institutions.
