Jamr is developing one platform for festival visitors. Instead of downloading a separate app for every festival, visitors can use Jamr to discover festivals, create their own personal lineup and stay connected with artists after the event.
During TT Festival, Jamr tested which features visitors find most useful and whether they like building a festival programme based on their personal preferences. 118 visitors started the FestiTinder, with 110 completing the full test. Another 60 visitors took part in a card sorting exercise.
The results show that swiping is a fun and engaging way to discover people’s preferences. An impressive 93% of participants completed the FestiTinder. Most participants also felt that Jamr’s personal recommendations matched their musical tastes well.
The test revealed another interesting insight. Many visitors say they want to discover new artists, but when swiping through the options, they mainly chose familiar and popular acts. This shows an opportunity for Jamr: personalised recommendations could help visitors step outside their usual music choices and discover something new.
The need for one ongoing festival platform also appears to grow with the number of festivals people visit. Frequent festival visitors were more likely to prefer one platform than people who only attend festivals occasionally.
The test also showed that visitors have different needs before, during and after a festival. Before the event, discovering artists and building a programme are most important. During the festival, practical features such as navigation and crowd information become more useful. Afterwards, visitors are interested in looking back on the experience and staying connected with artists.
A fun extra: during the Ondernemend Assen tour on Saturday, Jamr got another chance to share the story behind the innovation.
The next step for Jamr is to integrate the swipe mechanism into the platform and further improve its personalised recommendations. The team also wants to test Jamr on the festival grounds to see how the platform influences visitor behaviour in practice. At the same time, Jamr is developing the platform around the three stages of a festival: before, during and after the event. The team is also in talks with major international investors.
