The FlexiDome is an innovative building system developed by researchers at Avans University of Applied Sciences. With it, they aim to make emergency housing during crisis shelters more flexible and livable. ITGWO volunteers got to work with individual components for a flexible tent construction. The researchers were particularly curious about how participants create their constructions, what improvements are possible and how social interaction between participants occurs. Alain Dirven of Avans University of Applied Sciences is satisfied with the test results: “We had a fruitful weekend with a lot of valuable feedback from the participants. We got a good impression of both the positive aspects and points for improvement of our flexible building system. This allows us to further optimize the concept. All participants indicated that they enjoyed coming up with and building a tent design together with the construction elements.”
