The city is changing at a rapid pace, causing residents to sometimes lose their connection with their surroundings. Ommetje met Tom has developed an interactive map that collects and shares local stories. This way, you can discover the city with fresh eyes while strengthening social cohesion.

At the Kwaku Festival, Tom and Josephine tested the web app live with visitors for the very first time. With a short walk of five to ten minutes, participants discovered new stories, experienced the app’s ease of use, and shared their willingness to pay. The responses were positive: stories were seen as valuable and educational, and many people expressed an interest in discovering new routes more often. At the same time, participants preferred one-time payments over subscriptions and strongly wished to contribute their own stories.

With these insights, Ommetje met Tom is now working on improving the user experience, refining the business model, and increasing the frequency of new routes. In this way, the platform is evolving into the go-to place where Amsterdammers can rediscover their city together.
