The fashion industry produces enormous amounts of textile waste each year. ILANGA Studio has developed a circular solution: dyeing textiles with natural pigments derived from food waste. This gives garments a second life while reducing chemical pollution.
At the Kwaku Festival, visitors had the opportunity to dye textiles themselves using a mini washing machine or by hand. The creative experience was met with enthusiasm, and participants saw the potential for reusing their clothing. Remarkably, 63% indicated they would like to dye a garment again, particularly through a DIY kit. At the same time, short-term B2B collaborations showed the most potential, for example with brands that already operate circularly.
Based on these insights, ILANGA Studio is working on expanding the color palette, scaling up the production chain, and approaching new B2B partners. This will allow circular textile dyeing to be applied on a larger scale, keeping fashion both sustainable and creative.
