Innovatie in Beweging is developing a rehabilitation system that uses AR glasses and sensor data to measure and improve arm and hand movements through game-like elements. During Military Boekelo, the team tested the system’s usability, handling, and data quality through try-outs, 360° feedback cards, and accelerometer measurements.
The 40 participants rated the AR technology as user-friendly (4.6/5). The instructions were clear, though an example at the start of the game would be helpful. Movement data was successfully collected, but the sensor vests did not fit smaller children well. Calibration also proved less accurate on soft surfaces, such as tables covered with a tablecloth. Analysis of the sensor data will follow.
The team will collect more data—especially from adults and older users—and develop sensor vests in multiple sizes. They will also refine the test setup, initiate an effectiveness study, and explore a suitable business model with healthcare insurers and institutions.
