MeidenApp is developing a mobile application that encourages teenage girls to be more active in a fun and accessible way. During Military Boekelo, the team tested the app’s usability and motivational impact through a tablet try-out and an interactive stand.
Thirty-six girls participated. The app was experienced as simple and enjoyable: 95% found it easy to use, and 55% felt more motivated to be active. Gamification and the ability to create their own activities were highly appreciated. Safety emerged as an important theme: 45% wanted features that make them feel safer, and parents viewed parental controls as essential. The test also showed that real social interaction—such as conversations and playful elements at the stand—boosted engagement.
The team is working on a suitable revenue model, expanding collaborations with schools, municipalities, and sports clubs, and preparing a pilot with girls who currently exercise less. In addition, safety features and AI coaching will be further developed and tested.
