An electric vehicle has no emissions at all, right? That is not true. True, an electric car has no nitrogen and particulate emissions from combustion, but it does create particulate emissions from tyre wear. Electric vehicles are heavier than fuel vehicles because of the batteries, so the tyres wear more.
Aerocount has developed a smart particulate meter for indoors, in 2021 they tested it at Le Guess Who? During the TT Festival, they investigated whether this box could measure the difference between the emissions of an electric car from Top Dutch Solar Racing and a fuel car. Currently, the entrepreneur is in discussions with several municipalities to further explore the potential uses of this particulate meter.
