Test your innovation in Amsterdam Metropolitan Region

StartupAmsterdam, the City of Amsterdam‘s Urban Innovation Team and Innofest are teaming up to strengthen sustainable and social innovation in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. We will help 6 start-ups and scale-ups set up a test case at Mysteryland.

The programme

The programme consists of a series of three workshops (Innolessons) in which the test case takes shape step by step. In preparation of and during the final practical test at the festival, entrepreneurs receive personal guidance from our test expert to achieve optimal results. We also organise innovation tours at the festival, to give partners and sponsors a look behind the scenes.

After the test case, an evaluation workshop follows. In it, the entrepreneurs look back on the test case and look ahead to possible future steps. This way, we ensure that the data collected is used to improve the prototype.

The themes of sustainable mobility, circular material flows, energy, (digital) security, food and inclusiveness were chosen because the City of Amsterdam will be fully committed to them in the coming years. They therefore want to use this test track to explore the possibility whether they can apply the innovations in the metropolitan region. So after testing, a follow-up process may follow, in which the selected entrepreneurs will be supported with mentorship, business development and possible cooperation with the City of Amsterdam.

Good to know: if your company is selected for a test spot at Mysteryland, a test budget will be available that allows you to partially reimburse your expenses.

Why would you participate?

> You will test your prototype using a proven method;
> You will have access to unique test locations in the Amsterdam region;
> You will collect valuable data to further develop your prototype;
> You receive a test budget, that allows you to partially reimburse the costs you make to execute the test;
> You create visibility for your company.

North-Holland based startups Watermeln and Kauwboys are two of the entrepreneurs we have tested with in the past. Other examples of sustainable startups include Beton-Lab, Respyre, Pure Carbon Blue and Solar Sedum. We were also at Lowlands in 2022 with UPPACT. Watch the videos below to see Uppact in action.

"Innofest's work is an important complement to our accelerators. It forces entrepreneurs to name their assumptions and test them in the real world."

About Innofest

Innofest offers startups and scaleups the chance to test prototypes at living labs, kickstarting their success. By validating key assumptions at an early stage, startups increase their innovation’s chances of success and extract crucial evidence for investors or launching customers.

Since its foundation in 2016, Innofest has guided more than 230 test cases at festivals and living labs in this way. We do this using our own validated test methodology. Download the whitepaper in which we set out our methodology.
