CocoTimber introduces a sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood: coconut wood from old colonial plantations in Mozambique. In doing so, the company is committed to replanting to support the local economy. Coconut wood is ideal for cladding, flooring and decking.

At the Liberation Festival in Utrecht, CocoTimber investigated whether coconut wood is catching on with Dutch consumers and for which applications it is suitable. They tested the story behind the product, its appearance and price, and compared consumer preferences for different prototypes of cladding and decking boards with other products on the market.

Festival attendees appreciated the unique texture of coconut wood and found the price favorable compared to other woods. There was clear interest in the lighter class of coconut wood. Fast delivery was named as crucial, and visitors indicated that they would primarily purchase the product online or through a showroom.

These results provide valuable insights for CocoTimber to further develop their product and adjust their marketing strategy. The goal is to successfully introduce cocoTimber to the Dutch market.
