INNOFEST X ESNS 2025

For 8 years in a row, Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) has offered a great opportunity to sustainable and social entrepreneurs. With the support of Innofest, they can test their prototypes with the enthusiastic festival audience. And guess what? This year we’re partnering again to help no less than 6 innovative energy startups set up a test case during ESNS from January 15-18, 2025.

Hitloop

In the Hitloop project, researchers from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences explore the Human-In-The-Loop principle in AI-generated music. At the festival, they test an interactive installation where a DJ, AI, and music enthusiasts collaborate create a music piece. The aim is to study how people interact with AI and the installation. This experiment is made possible with support from Regieorgaan SIA.

DOCKR

Logistical challenges such as accessibility, parking, noise pollution, and air pollution are daily frustrations in major cities. With an electric cargo bike, entrepreneurs can sidestep many of these issues. With DOCKR, you can lease an electric cargo bike for a fixed monthly fee, which includes insurance, maintenance, and on-site roadside assistance. The specially designed cargo box is perfect for business use. DOCKR will use the experiences of testers to evaluate the cargo bike’s reliability, range, load capacity, and ease of use.

WE | doubleyouenergy

Many off-grid retail locations still rely on polluting diesel generators. WE | doubleyouenergy aims to change this with a sustainable solar and hydrogen energy system. During the test at ESNS, the system will be operated continuously over several days to demonstrate its maximum capacity, hydrogen consumption, and efficiency. The goal: to replace fossil fuel generators, reduce CO2 emissions, and prove the system’s effectiveness.

LV Energy

Energy startup LV Energy has developed a method to generate energy from the vibrations of sound waves. They aim to harness the loudest sounds to generate usable energy. Noise pollution is everywhere, and we have sound waves all around us, often wasted. With the technology that LV Energy will be testing at ESNS, they can convert these into electricity. This innovation could turn concert halls and highways into energy sources. This technology works day and night, year-round. By doing this, noise pollution will be reduced and wind turbines will be even more efficient. During ESNS, they are testing whether their technology is also suitable for festivals, where sound is often more dispersed.

50X Labs

“You don’t know what you don’t know.” The first step towards a net-zero future is accurate measurement and benchmarking of key data. 50X Labs’ platform empowers companies in the event sector to make better decisions with automated GHG and ESG reporting. It speeds up data collection by 70% compared to Excel, improves accuracy, and offers dual materiality reporting for climate risks and opportunities. The platform includes access to a blockchain-based offset program and an integrated task management system. 50X Labs aims to field-test their platform to demonstrate compliant reporting capabilities and set a sustainability benchmark for businesses and municipalities.

Emission-0

Emission-0 is a sharing platform for zero-emission equipment and transport, enabling construction and infrastructure projects to be carried out entirely emission-free. The platform caters to individuals, contractors, governments, and rental companies, offering a user-friendly online tool for reserving zero-emission machinery. During testing at ESNS, Emission-0 aims to explore how event sites can be set up and dismantled without emissions and identify further ways to reduce emissions. The goal: to make emission-free construction achievable and affordable, optimize the use of machinery and scarce resources, and eliminate harmful emissions.
